Chail

Chail: A Little Paradise

Mountains, valleys, snowcapped peaks, a hint of fog and lush green foliage….. what’s not to love about Chail! About 44 kms from the capital of Himachal Pradesh Simla, Chail is a small town that mesmerizes travelers with its breathtaking natural beauty. Unlike Simla that has commercialized considerably in the past few years, the beauty of Chail is still pristine and untouched.

Chail boasts of the world’s highest cricket ground and a polo ground at about 2250 meters above sea level formerly belonging to the erstwhile Royal family of Patiala. Ensconced between chir forests and deodars, Chail is ideal for hiking and mountain climbing. It also offers a wide range of adventure activities for thrill seekers like rope walking, rock rappelling, Bamboo Bridge crossing etc.

Summers are quite pleasant in this quaint hill station but winters can be harsh and cold. However, if you want to enjoy snowfall away from the hustle and bustle of Simla, you can visit Chail in winters. The entire city is covered with a pristine white layer of snow and you are suddenly transported to a winter wonderland!

A place you would love to visit while in Chail is the Chail Gurudwara. Built by the Maharaja of Patiala, this is an Indo-western structure constructed in 1907 with a 22 feet high wooden roof. General weather of this destination is Rainy. This destination is of type Mountain.
